Deb Treusdell

Deb Treusdell Bio

Deb graduated from College in Maryland and lived on the east coast until the early 1980’s, when she relocated to the Pacific Northwest. She’s lived in Yakima, Seattle, Salem and currently resides in rural Clatsop County, 30 miles east of the City of Seaside. In 2004, Deb answered her “entrepreneurial calling.” She ended a 15 year newspaper career to expand her occasional consulting into a full-time business – Sterling Concepts and Communication, Inc.
Sterling Concepts & Communication, Inc. specializes in STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION & TRAINING. The unique MOJO Method™ combines TRAINING, FACILITATION, CONSULTING and PERSONAL COACHING to address the needs of the GROUP and the INDIVIDUAL.

Whether you need help with staff development, launching a new product or grass-roots community outreach… effective communication is essential. We find successful ways to communicate complex concepts and messages to targeted audiences.

Some clients need short-term help – like group facilitation, marketing workshops, customer service training or developing a brochure. Some clients hire us to manage long-range projects such as educating a beach community about the hazards of tsunamis.

Over the past 5 years, the Sterling Concepts team has served a very diverse group of clients -- small business owners, not-for-profits, government agencies and large corporations like Boeing. In addition to our trainers and facilitators, the Sterling Concepts team includes professionals that specialize in graphic design, multi-media productions, web design, community outreach, niche market development and emergency preparedness education.

In February, 2007, the City of Seaside awarded Sterling Concepts a contract to develop and implement the TSUNAMI PREP program. As Seaside’s Tsunami PREP Coordinator, Deb is applied her unique public relations and communication skills to help city residents, businesses and visitors prepare for the hazards created by earthquakes and tsunamis.

In 2008 Deb was a presenter at the Oregon Emergency Management Association (OEMA) annual conference. She also received the 2008 OEMA Award for Innovation. In the spring of 2008, the Seaside contract ended. However, Deb’s desire to continue work in the emergency preparedness field led her to develop a division of her corporation that would focus on emergency prep - Oregon Emergency Preparedness Outreach (OEPO).

Deb is an active volunteer in her community. She’s a member of the Rotary Club of Seaside, the Seaside Chamber of Commerce, Chamber Ambassadors and the Seaside Downtown Development Association. Her regional and national memberships include the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council/ASTRA Woman’s Business Alliance, Oregon Emergency Management Association, Oregon Tsunami Advisory Council, Board Member of Partners for Loss Prevention and most recently – AARP ;-)) Deb and her partner of 18 years enjoy their 3 dogs (2 boxers and a cattle dog) and are enthusiastic beach combers – whether they’re on the Oregon Coast or Kauai, Hawaii.
